Shoe Racks… I Mean, Fancy Montessori Shelves
Although not perfect, in general I try to encourage Montessori-type play when I can. Cue a little area in Norah’s room that had started to turn into a dreaded pile of stuff. At the end of the night I’d just corral any toys or books on the floor and shove them against the wall.
So I tried to channel my sister in law’s Montessori classroom. I remembered an unused shoe rack in my closet, pulled it down, and moved it to its true calling.
To say Norah likes this set up is an understatement. She’s too young to know that certain toys go in a particular spot, but seemed to really love the access and visibility to all her toys and books. Couldn’t even take pictures fast enough before she pulled most things off the top shelf. (Tazzy the cat, wooden tree blocks, and yes, a coaster.)
